Lead Times

Knowing lead times helps you plan for school events, club orders and promo runs without last minute stress. Here is how typical turnaround works at Brand-On Screen Printing in Jeffreys Bay and what can speed it up or slow it down.

How we handle most standard print jobs

For many standard screen printing orders, turnaround starts once your artwork is approved and your deposit is received. Simple one colour prints on T-shirts or hoodies are usually quicker than jobs with multiple positions, fine detail or special finishing like neck labels and bagging.

As a guide, smaller repeat orders can often move through the press within a few working days, while bigger school, club or event runs may need a bit longer. If your job is urgent, tell us early so we can check the schedule and see what can be moved around without affecting print quality.

  • Simple one colour orders usually move fastest
  • More colours, more positions and mixed sizes take longer
  • Artwork approval is part of the clock, so send clean files early
  • Repeat orders can be quicker when artwork and print setup already exist

What affects turnaround time in Jeffreys Bay

We work from the Jeffreys Bay industrial area and support customers across Kouga, Humansdorp, St Francis Bay, Cape St Francis, Oyster Bay, Kareedouw and Gqeberha. Local logistics can help, but the job still depends on stock availability, artwork readiness and the size of the run.

Coastal humidity can also play a part. In the Eastern Cape, ink curing and packing conditions need to be right, especially on damp winter mornings. During load shedding we may need to adjust the production sequence if power timing changes, so a job that looks simple on paper may still need a little extra breathing room.

  • Artwork still needing corrections will add time
  • Special garment colours or sizes may need supplier lead time
  • Large bulk packing and folded delivery needs extra finishing time
  • Weather and power interruptions can shift the daily production order

Seasonal orders need earlier booking

School sports, matric events, holiday promos and surf town festivals can fill the schedule quickly. If you need team kit, caps, hoodies or event wear for a specific date, it is best to book ahead rather than leave it to the week before. That gives us time for artwork setup, sample strike offs and any colour matching required.

Seasonal orders are where planning makes the biggest difference. A school ordering across several sizes, or a club wanting multiple print positions across different garments, can take longer than a single box of tees. A bit of extra lead time also helps when you want folded and bagged items ready for handing out.

  • Book early for December, school terms and sports seasons
  • Allow extra time for large size runs and mixed garment types
  • Ask about sample strike offs if print colour matters a lot
  • Let us know if your delivery date is fixed and non negotiable

Artwork approval is the first real step

Good lead times start with good artwork. Once we receive your logo, wording or design brief, our artwork coordinator checks the file for size, clarity and print suitability. If changes are needed, we will tell you what is required before production begins.

Jobs with clean, ready artwork usually move faster. If a design needs rebuilding, colour separation or layout changes for a sleeve print, back print or neck label print, that can add a day or two. The quicker the approval comes back, the sooner the job can go to press.

  • Send the final wording and sizes together
  • Keep your logo files as clear as possible
  • Approve the proof once the layout looks right
  • Tell us early if you need a sample strike off first

Rush orders and realistic expectations

We do our best to help with urgent orders, but rush work still needs to fit the production queue. If you need shirts for a weekend event or club launch, contact us as soon as possible and explain the date, quantity and garment type. That helps us judge whether the order can be completed in time.

Rushing a job can limit options. Some print styles, larger orders or complex colour matching may not suit very tight timeframes. We would rather be straight with you at the start than promise a date we cannot keep. That is better for everyone and saves a lot of back and forth.

  • Send the event date, not just “soon”
  • Share the quantity and garment list up front
  • Let us know if you can collect or need packing ready for dispatch
  • Urgent orders are easier to assess when artwork is already final

Repeat orders, reprints and bulk packing

If you are reordering the same school shirt, staff hoodie or club cap, the lead time is often shorter because the setup has already been done. That said, we still check the current garment stock, print position and any changes to sizes or quantities before we start.

Bulk packing, folding and bagging can add a little time, especially when an order is split for different branches, teams or classes. But it is worth it when the boxes arrive organised and ready to hand out. Megan Daniels usually helps clients keep the handover clear so the final step is simple.

For repeat work, it helps to keep a note of the old order details, because that makes pricing and scheduling faster. A small typo in the order note can slow things down, so please double check names and size lists before sending them through.

Questions we get asked

How long does a normal screen printing order take?

Most standard orders are completed in a few working days once artwork is approved and payment is in place. Bigger runs, multi colour prints and extra finishing can extend that timeframe.

Can you rush an order for an event?

Yes, if the production schedule allows it. Send the date, quantity, garment type and artwork as early as possible so we can assess whether the job can be completed in time.

What delays a print job the most?

Artwork changes, waiting for stock, large quantities, special print positions and seasonal demand are the main causes of delay. Load shedding and coastal humidity can also affect production timing in Jeffreys Bay.
